Dr. Shafik Sachedina’s Sussex Health Care, an in-joint venture with the University of Chichester, has awarded its employees with qualifications for Professional Practice in Social Care. Sussex Health Care offers residential and day-care services. The program saw six workers receive Level 5 Diploma certificates. The other 80 students graduated with different qualifications ranging from levels 3 to 5 in leadership, social care, hospitality, activity therapy and management. The year-long program offers students with a higher apprenticeship or level 4 registered managers award with a platform to advance their qualifications to be able to study a BA degree. The students attended monthly workshops and completed work-based assignments. The training was delivered on-site at Sussex’s training academy at Warnham. Dr. Shafik applauded the qualified students and said their experience will improve the lives of the people of Sussex. The head of Childhood Social Work and Social Care at Chichester University was delighted with the students’ achievements.

The prominent doctor was born in Tanzania. He enrolled in Guy’s Hospital Medical and Dental School- University of London where he graduated as a dental surgeon in 1975. Dr. Shafik Sachedina has made major contributions to the Ismaili community. He is the head of the Department of Jamati Institutions in France where he spearheads the coordination of the activities and programs of all 16 institutions of the Ismaili community. As a community volunteer, Shafik works closely with Aga Khan and Jamati institutions. He is a member of the Aga Khan Development Network Committee. In addition, he chairs FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance International Coordinating Committee. The doctor is affiliated with the Ismaili Leaders’ International Forum. Previously, he served as the president of the Ismaili Council for the UK.
